Westfield Mount Druitt Car Park Shade Cloths Changing Color!

At Mount Druitt Westfield ton the northern end, there are  huge shade cloths covering the back car park. Great for  shoppers in the heat and for the rain. The only thing that concerns myself is that how often do they either clean them or replace them with a new one. Dirt is appearing on the shade cloths (and I know they have been there for a few years).   

M health issue for the community as the dirt from the shade cloths can drop onto the shoppers and  affect their health and I wonder how often the Westfield Mount Druitt Health and Safety and Blacktown City Council Inspectors  have been monitoring it and reviewing it?

The other aspect is when you look up into the shade cloths it is not impressive.

Westfield Mount Druitt Hole In The Road - Fixed!

Well finally can say, the Westfield Mount Druitt hole in the road/ground has been fixed - small issue but it wasn't looked after by Westfield Mount Druitt until it was raised by this website.

We do want to thank the General Manager of Blacktown City Council and its employees and Westfield Mount Druitt Management and Health  & Safety/ Maintenance Team for  making this improvement.

Violinist With A Cause To be A Busker In Mount Druitt

Today I was touched by a former resident of Mount Druitt, now living in a hobby farm outside of Orange NSW. I felt for him as he told of the reason why he was a busker in Dawson Mall, Mount Druitt.

Some  people had stolen all his sheep and he needs to feed his family. Shocking as it sounds of life we still have hard working farmers, not only finding the work  they do so hard - they have to deal with criminals among themselves.

 Previously he had lived in Mount Druitt for 5 years and moved - now he is seeking charity for someone else that placed him in this position- I gave him some charity and so did others!

Luxford Road, Mount Druitt (Entrance To Westfield) Pedestrian Crossing - Health And Safety To the Community!

Here a blog that has been published before a t Mount Druitt Commuters Improvement Group Inc, IT is not really a public transport issue - it is now a community issue and we will seek support from  all local authorities to add an extra pedestrian crossing on Luxford Road, Mount Druitt (Entrance to Westfield Mount Druitt). 

Every day there is a risk to the public community, somebody may get hurt or there may even be a casualty.

Mount Druitt Community Gets Another Win - Blacktown Council Responds Positively!

On previous blogs, I have advised how we are informing the community of improvements that have been neglected in the past. I can now report that what I love about Mount Druitt is that  local Government authorities are holding their head high and taking responsible action. Here is the e-mail received from Council's Engineer:

Hello John,

I refer to your recent correspondence regarding the condition of the pathway located in William Mason Reserve.

I am pleased to advise that this project is currently listed in Council’s Works Improvement Program for future funding consideration at an estimated cost of $44,000.  At this point in time I cannot advise you when funds will be allocated for this particular project.  All listed projects are prioritised and reassessed on an annual basis for funding consideration. 

Council’s Civil and Open Space Maintenance Section also undertook a site inspection which revealed that some sections of the existing pathway presented a safety hazard and required restoration work and as such, a works order has been issued to fix up these identified areas

This indicates that one person can make a change without a verbal word said to the authorities. Even Council has recognised that the path is a Safety Hazard - Let's see how the  WIP (Work In Progress) take to provide  a much needed upgrade. I must say that it also took our local State Member for Mount Druitt, Richard Amery to assist us in getting this park upgraded.

The thing that attract myself to help the community, is 'Caring for the Community'. How can Mount Druitt be one of the best places in Sydney and NSW unless we provide necessary improvements. I call on the local community to bring on more improvement require within Mount Druitt, especially pictures - pictures says more then words.

William Mason Reserve Currently!

 Here are some scenic pictures of William Mason Reserve, which depicts the current state it is in. You can see that there is a lot of rubbish to be cleaned up - top left hand corner picture!

I was first confused with these signs as I saw no water in the William Mason Reserve, until the rains came in recently.

There's a lot of  rubbish dumped in this Reserve and we will see if Council can look at cleaning it up - maybe place signs of  fines for dumping litter or rubbish as we  all want a cleaner Mount Druitt!

History tells me this was one of Western Sydney Dam before Warragamba Dam - maybe someone could  fill me in and provide some historical details.

I discovered on Google Maps that it is showing 2  ponds in William Mason Reserve. So this could definitely be why the 'not swimming sign' are there.

Follow Up To Improvements Required On Concerning The Upgrade Of Paths/Track At William Mason Reserve Mount Druitt

Further report  from the  please story provides to you, on the issues provided to joggers, walkers and cyclists, that need to be attended too on William Mason Reserve, Mount Druitt.

This afternoon I spoke to Mark from the  Mount local area who  says the track that is at William Mason Reserve is not comfortable on his feet when jogging. He wasn't aware that was another walking track  in Ward 5, RAAF Memorial Park, alongside Woodstock Road Mount Druitt that has great  walking and jogging tracks ( that I have even used).

mark suggested that as a lot of  people use the park for fitness and recreation the path needs to be changed and made similar to the RAAF Memorial Park in Mount Druitt. I advised him  that I will take care of it  and advocate for improvements in all areas of Mount Druitt that require it. He was please about this and will spread the word of our  new community website.

Furthermore Richard Amery, NSW Member for Mount Druitt has made personal  representations to  Mr Kerry Robinson, General Manager of Blacktown City Council asking for the matter to be raised and  investigated. Thank you Richard!

Westfield Mount Druitt Ramp Access a 'NO GO' for Blacktown City Council Access Committee - But On The Agenda

We have  had a response from Access Community Access Worker Representative from Blacktown City Council.

Dear John, many thanks for referring the matter of the ramp to me.  I will bring this issue to the attention of Westfield’s, Mt Druitt and ascertain what it is they wish to do.  The Access Advisory Sub-Committee has previously reported that there is sufficient access in that area for wheelchair users without them using  the ramp.  Many thanks.

Editors Note: It appears that when we get to a stumbling block with facing a large corporation to resolve an issue, there are signs   decision makers may falter. That may cost money and change the way access is provided to the entire community, allowing all people proper access to pathways and roads, even in public shopping centers. No one should be denied proper access!

Yet, I feel there is hope as the internet provides the power to make decision makers feel the real chnage needed to make improvement in Mount Druitt, no matter how small or large the matter is.

The People Make That Make Mount Druitt

I met a young man called Delvin the other day. He was carting over his  should a roll of carpet, which he claimed he was  taking to his new place at Mount Druitt. I believe he is a 'Rapper' and has  some of his  dances on You  Tube!

He was  going to contact myself and let me  have the  details of his dancing. I haven't heard from him as yet. If anyone knows him and his You Tube channel let me know.

Westfield Mount Druitt Car Park - Rocks Left On The Ground!

Concrete rocks left on the ground at Mount Druitt - has been there a week or so where concrete rocks are left on the  ground, in the middle of the car park.

What would happen if a car had an accident, would the  insurance company pay the claim or  Westfield Mount Druitt pay the claim? Who is liable.

Understanding that it may not have been anyone involved in Westfield Mount Druitt leaving the concrete rock on the ground, how often do they inspect the car park. I understand that Westfield Mount i a major shopping Centre, within the  area of Mount Druitt and receives a great reputation for shopping, but this reputation is dampened if these rocks (laying there for a week or so) , have not been identified by the Westfield relevant authorities. Westfield can search and see where it is in their car park!

I  have e-mailed the General Manager of Blacktown City Council, requesting for a response.

It is amazing as we check to see how temporary measures used to  seal up holes in the ground can come off at Westfield Mount Druitt, I have e-mailed the General Manager of  Westfield Mount Druitt to chase it up.

What If Mount Druitt Suburb Names Changed Slightly...

We have many suburbs that have had a great history to its name in and around Mount Druitt. Not putting that aside, do we need to look at the future to provide a  slightly change of name that will provide maybe a  better image then  that is  perceived by others outside the area.

What I love about Mount Druitt, is that we can change ourselves to fit with the outer community, we have history and we have a lot of worldly culture living  in our suburbs. So  would you agree to slight changes of names to provide  a better image of  the area?

Here are some examples:

Mount Druitt  to Mount Druitt North - north of the railway line -                                Mount Druitt Village - south of the railway line,
Emerton             to Emertonville - it has a village shopping center
Dharruk             to  Dharrukgrove
Shalvey              to Shalvey Cove
Bidwill               to Bidwill Gardens - this was what it was supposed
                                                            to be called originally
Colyton              to Colyton Springs
Tregear               to Tregear Hills
Blackett              to Blackett Point
Willmot               to Willmot Willows
Whalan                to Whalan Heights
Minchinbury        to Minchinbury Vines
Lethbridge Park   to Lethbridge Park Hill
Hebersham           to Hebersham Homestead
Rooty Hill             to Rooty Hill Outlook
 Ropes Crossing    to Ropes Crossing Ridge

If you have  better names for the above suburbs, let me know  and can add it on and  advise the community. Then knock on the door of your local Councillor to give your suggestion.

eye-to-eye on a majority of improvements that we would 

like to see in the community.


What I would love to see from our cross section of 

Journalists ,Photographers, Politicians,musicians and anyone 

else ,is a local arts group catering for the artistic abilities of 

our own locals. Mount Druitt has ever so much talent grown 

local or by immigration . Places to exercise there talents , 

those wishing to learn and those wishing to mentor. Our 

local clubs and retail centers providing opportunities to show 

case as many as possible. What a great deal of pride can

be born out of such.

Westfield Mount Druitt Ramp Inaccessible For Wheelchair Community

We are in the golden age of high technology, growing urban shopping hub in Mount Druitt as we change our directing of not providing community members  all areas of public access, to and from shopping centres.

If shopping centres deny access to certain community members or provide inadequate access to  any community members, then we are not in the golden age. 

Here we have an established well known Westfield Shopping Centre in Mount Druitt denying access to wheelchair commuters in a ramp on the north entrance outside of Rashay's, near Coles Entrance.

yes , we are behind the times  but don't worry I will hold the banner of community improvement and  use the e-mails to get what  is needed by the community.  It will be well money spent by Westfield Mount Druitt Management preventing possible future lawsuits.

Let see  how quick this will be attended too by the relevant authorities. I will keep you posted.

William Mason Reserve - Cracks Appearing - Dangerous For Cyclists in Mount Druitt!

William Reserve Mount Druitt, is a joggers paradise when it comes to footpaths and tracks, except after  lengthy long periods of time there appears something that is being neglected  by local authorities

It is so simple that sometimes you will find patched up parts of the track/path. Maybe it is a band aid to heal the issue - but other cracks appear. I'm sure whilst referring to Council,  the inspector checking the site may want to look at deferring any improvement  and push it to the  awaiting projects pile (usually sourcing funds for it).

This can cause a health and safety issue to the community who jog, run, walk and cycle around the park. We are seeking Council to act on this  and see what they do to prevent  any future possible issues.

As this section is part of the William mason Reserve is important and less promoted, as  part of the bike plan paths on Blacktown City Council (locate on our other links). I feel that  whilst Blacktown  City Council (it its own way) promote their bike plans - they should not promote it, if it not regularly maintained and checked listed.

I will provide you with updates as we hear from Council.

Westfield Mount Druitt Sign Sends Mixed Message - Health And Saftey For The Community

Again, on behalf of the community, I am taking to task to seek an improvement in Mount Druitt Westfield, North entrance at Coles.

A lot of community members have seen it but do not want to raise the issue for fear of negativism from local authorities. Fear not,  I will do my best to get Mount Druitt on the 'Good Map' of improvement and make Council realise that we have our own independent issues

Her is  a sign asking for pedestrian to share the Westfield road which can cause potential accidents and death if fast cars are travelling into the road from the intersection before the sign. Look there is a very narrow path not even a pedestrian can walk on it.
 I will seek Council's support to get this  improved as well as other improvements, seen by myself and  by other community members.

Yes there is ramp further ahead (on the left hand side),but there isn't a specific clearance  way to get to the ramp, except through a parking lot, where at general times can be hectic.

I will keep you up to date when  there is a resolution!

Westfield Mount Druitt Hole on Road - To Be Fixed!

What I love about Mount Druitt is that is there is a community issue that comes up that needs attention, I will attend to it by e-mailing the General Manager of Blacktown City Council and request them to attend to it. This has so happened refer to exert from my e-mail dated 13th February 2014:

"I am writing to you as a concerned community member, advising that in Westfield Mount Druitt, there doesn't seem to be any maintenance checking as I have spotted a gaping hole in among their roads, which  is a health and safety issue for community who shop within the vicinity.

This can possibly cause accidents for vehicles that travel on the road as well.

Please refer to Westfield Mount Druitt to attend to the potential health and safety issue, which is located near the northern Coles Entrance.

Please note I have noticed that they have left this unchecked for 1 week, this is explainable and as they fall under the Black City Council, we request further investigation and prevention of any possible incidents that could happen.

Please respond to my e-mail  with your outcome after investigating with Westfield Mount Druitt."

This was referred to Westfield Mount Druitt, Risk and Security. Manager from Blacktown City Council with a response copied to myself dated 14th February 2014:

"Thank you for your email alerting us of the issue we have temporary fixed the issue photo below until  the covers arrive this week if you have any questions don’t hesitate to contact me via phone or email."

What I love About Mount Druitt...

What I love about Mount Druitt is everything. 

  What makes Mount Druitt a great place to live in , is all 

 the people that make it Mount Druitt:

 Community activists, local Councillors that are 

 looking after the interests of local residents no

 matter what side of politics they are on, local 

 shopping Hubs like Plumpton, Mount Druitt, Emerton

 and sometimes the local suburban shops.


  I also like the amenities

 we have like updated

 libraries, open grounds

 like Whalan Reserve -

 which could be

 promoted as a major

 sporting hub for

 Blacktown City council. I

 also like the history that 

 has come to Mount Druitt before I arrived here 

 almost 24 years ago. People made history of what 

 we are today and how Mount Druitt is today.

 
 I also like that the teenage children, who seem to

 be more independent until they are released into

 the the world of 'living expenses', obtaining

 jobs, having peer groups of friends that keep them

 attached and in touch with the real world. A lot of

 them will have their own fun and still love their 

 families!

 
 The people that come from different backgrounds:

 war torn countries, leaving immediate families 

 behind, starting a new life. The people that have

 lived there main lives in Mount Druitt and have seen 

 the changes and the majority of the older generation

 that migrated from North Shore and Eastern and

 Southern Sydney.

 
I love each person and I know those great 

characters of real people that know Mount Druitt is a great

place to live in.

   
Mount Druitt is changing from a place that didn't 

have a high reputation or population for a good 

standard of living, it has changed to a growing 

major population hub that people want to live in for 

its low  and affordable rental and  property market 

within Sydney and the Greater Western Sydney.

  

I will go out my way to promote the 

good changes that need to occur and the good

people we have in the area as people come to me

and talk to me. I want to learn how other 

community people love the area and how there is a

connection somewhere that makes us live in our

great community, together.
