Labor Takes Stronghold In Blacktown City Council Elections 2016

Image result for stephen baliUnder the leadership of Mayor Stephen Bali, Labor party seem clear to get elected 2 Councilors of each Ward within Blacktown City Council Elections today. Balance would yet be determined under to the quota system. My assumption based on results so far is that the remaining candidates may be 1 Labor and 4 Liberals or 1 Labor, 3 Liberals and 1 Independent.

Labor will hold a balance of power in their own right. In Wards 4 and 5 Liberals will have a slump with final results with final results to come compared to 2012 results.  Some Independents have picked up their swinging votes as  Labor picking up a chunk of it. Liberal might pick up the 3rd candidate here after former Liberal Councillor  was not contesting the election.

In Ward 5, The Australia First Party will have almost doubled their percentage to 9.32%  (so  far) and over taken the Greens as a third Party placed result, With Labor leading this years results by an extra 1% (so far) with 59.82% majority, with the retirement of Former councilor Charlie Lowles and Independent Councillor Jacqueline Donaldson switching her candidacy to Ward 4. So far Councillor Tony Bleasedale and Brad Bunting will be elected  new Councillors

In Ward the Liberals have so far slumped down by 14% to 24% of the  vote, whilst  running third Independent Jacqueline Donaldson is on 7.27% (so far), leaving The Mayor of Blacktown City Council, Stephen Bali and also Carol Israel elected as elected Council members with a majority (so far) of 59.86%

This means that we will see a truly dedicated Jacqueline Donaldson not be elected into  Blacktown City Council, which a lot of people will miss: her hard work, follow up on community issues and raising the standard of the area.
